IBC drives strategic dialogue on economic policy direction and action
Jakarta, 26 January 2026 — Ahead of the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES) 2026, to be held on 3–4 February 2026 in Jakarta, the Indonesian Business Council (IBC) reaffirmed the role of IES as a strategic platform that translates economic dialogue into policy direction and concrete implementation. The Summit brings together government, business leaders, and global thinkers to discuss Indonesia’s growth trajectory amid regional and global economic dynamics.
Against the backdrop of geopolitical developments and shifting global supply chains, IES 2026 will examine economic policy directions to drive inclusive growth, strengthen competitiveness, create jobs, and expand access to markets, finance, and technology.
Chair of the Board of Trustees, Arsjad Rasjid, stated, “The enthusiasm and diversity of participants demonstrate that IES is trusted as a meaningful forum for dialogue. Through IES, we aim to ensure that Indonesia is seen not only as a market, but as a competitive, high-value, and impactful investment destination that is closely connected to ASEAN and global economic dynamics, so that the opportunities created are truly felt by national businesses.”
CEO Indonesian Business Council, Sofyan Djalil, added, “IES is designed to consistently move towards concrete action. Amid global changes and structural change, Indonesia needs a growth model aligned with today’s realities, one that is inclusive, productivity-driven, and supported by strong policies and institutions. IES provides a strategic space for open, evidence-based dialogue, ensuring that the reforms generated are not only well designed, but also practical and implementable.”
Meanwhile, COO Indonesian Business Council, William Sabandar, said, “We bring together government, business leaders, and global thinkers in open and constructive dialogue. Our focus is to ensure that the perspectives of Indonesian businesses are directly connected to national economic policy direction, making this forum a credible reference for stakeholders.”
Carrying the theme “Coming Together to Boost Resilient Growth and Shared Prosperity,” IES 2026 will feature more than 100 speakers and participants from various countries, including senior government officials, national and international business leaders, investors, economists, and representatives of international institutions. Participants will engage in a series of thematic panel discussions and roundtable sessions.
Indonesia will be represented, among others, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto; Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus
Harimurti Yudhoyono; Chair of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan; IBC Panel of Experts member, Special Envoy of the President of Indonesia for Trade and Multilateral Cooperation and Vice Chair of the National Economic Council (DEN) Mari Elka Pangestu; and Minister of Foreign Affairs (2014–2024) Retno Marsudi. The Summit also welcomes international figures and partners, including Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development of Canada (2018–2025); Australian Prime Minister’s Envoy for Southeast Asia Nicholas Moore; President of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development Abdullah Saleh Kamel; Vice President of the Center for China and Globalization Victor Gao; and prominent finance figure and Chief Advisor to Danantara Chapman Taylor, alongside leading international institutions, investors, and regional business leaders.
IES 2026 will also introduce a Women’s Breakfast session highlighting women’s leadership, as well as a platform developed in collaboration with Endeavor to recognize Indonesia’s Future Growth Champions across key strategic sectors. The platform spotlights three key groups: the next generation of Indonesian business leaders, emerging public policy leaders, and social entrepreneurs. These Future Growth Champions will take part in the IES 2026 program to share perspectives and contribute to building policy and practice foundations that support sustainable and inclusive growth.
In addition, IES 2026 serves as the launch stage for the Indonesia City Investment Accelerator (ICIA) to accelerate sustainable urban investment by strengthening project readiness in Indonesian cities; the launch of B57+ Indonesia and Asia-Pacific to support business cooperation among Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) countries and others; and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Global Ethical Finance Initiative (GEFI) to promote the development of sustainable Islamic finance, strengthen the integration of sharia principles with the ESG agenda, and deepen Indonesia’s Islamic financial and capital markets. Through these collaborations, IES 2026 is expected to strengthen Indonesia’s position as a hub for Islamic sustainable finance in the region and the Global South.
By convening cross-sector stakeholders at an international scale, IBC hopes that IES 2026 will serve as a key reference point on Indonesia’s economic priorities for both domestic audiences and the global business community, while strengthening public–private collaboration in support of resilient, inclusive, and sustainable growth.
